Flat

Went outside this morning, got in my car, started driving down the street and…well, something was very wrong. I turned back home and parked at the house. The investigation revealed that my front, right tire was flat. Totally flat.

Thankfully, my husband let me take his truck so I could get to church (although this meant that he and Jonas did not get to church since I leave a whole hour before them and they were both still in bed when I left) and then he took the tire off and is having it fixed as I type this.

I’ve been waiting. It’s happening. Our tomato plants have grown and finally the tomatoes are starting to turn–just the cherry tomatoes right now, but it gives me hope!

Laces

Jonas’ new shoes. The funny thing is thick, neon shoelaces were cool when I was 12, too. I had hot pink in one shoe and lime green in the other. I’m sure I wore them with my hypercolor t-shirt and crimped my hair.

I spent this afternoon working on a sermon that I will preach on the very last day of this month. Yes, that’s a children’s NRSV–it’s my sermon writing Bible of choice. The Clif Bar and Steve Martin’s book also play an important sermon writing role, I can assure you.

Gloss

I cleaned out my purse and my makeup bag just now.

It appears I have a problem previously only evident to my Avon dealer lady. Is Lip Gloss Anonymous a thing?

My new camera has a firework setting that I attempted to use tonight as Henderson celebrated the Fourth a day late at the riverfront. The thing about me having a cool, complicated camera is that it is cool. And complicated. So I’m learning. I thought this picture was kind of wonderful, though.

It was a terrific night with family and friends–great music, lemon shakeups and pyrotechnics!

Buddies

A lazy holiday morning found these guys rolling around on the floor. Sam loves his boy.

It’s been a month since I worshiped with my family. It was good to be back.

Training

June was really busy. I worked out the best I could every day that I could, but I lost a little ground. Today, I backtracked and completed couch to 5k week 5 day 2 (I was up to week 7 before New Orleans) and did 25 minutes of intervals on the eliptical machine.

(By the way, this picture was hard to take. I had to slow down enough to keep it from being blurry, but if you stop the machine, this smart-alec graphic and the words “Pedal Faster!” take over the screen. So I was balancing, moving slowly, attempting to take a not-blurry picture. I’m sure my fellow gym-attendees think I’m awesome…)

Our Presbytery Middle School Students were able to go onto the football field at Western Kentucky University this morning. I think it's pretty amazing that they spent the two previous nights in a dorm on campus, ate in the dining hall, worshiped in a campus chapel and spent time in various campus buildings. They worked and served hard, but I love that they also had a college experience.
