What It’s About: This book takes place in Chicago…except it’s not Chicago anymore. It’s a new society where people are divided into factions based on particular virtues that are seen as beneficial for various function of society. All 16 year-olds are tested and then have to choose their faction. Beatrice was raised in Abdegnation (selflessness), but her test results have an undesirable (dangerous) result and she has to decide what she will do on Choosing Day.

A lot of this book feels like “Hunger Games” meets “Harry Potter.”

Anyway, it’s a good book. I can see why people are excited about the movie.

Why I read it: It was available through Kentucky Libraries Unbound (online book borrowing through the local public library) and they had it Kindle format. I thought–why not? Was immediately hooked!
