I am awake 🙁 I went to bed when Jason did (we always go to bed at the same time no matter what), but he fell asleep and left me alone. I cannot sleep (maybe the 2 glasses of tea I drank at Old Chicago Pizza when I went out with the women’s group?). But while I was trying to fall asleep, I thought of the Bower-Suhrheinrich room in the student union at UE. My memory was jogged about this wonderful room because I read a post from Jenny’s blog where she was remembering the UE campus prayer and worship sessions and also because I did a survey about UE on myspace the other day.
Here are some things I remember about the Bower-Suhrheinrich (if that person ever had any children or ever was a child, he/she surely had a hard time with THAT name):
–Spending many nights there–but one in particular–with Jenny and Steve. I remember we were worried that we weren’t supposed to be in that room so late! Or that we weren’t supposed to eat potato chips there…
–The piano! I remember Chris Speith playing and practicing on that piano. And I remember one night in particular freshman year when Chris found me in there and was all upset because he was sure that his long-distance girlfriend was going to break up with him. Of course, today Chris and Steph are hardly long-distance!
–Our Small Group that studied “Jonah Joel and Amos!” That group rocked!
–and then our small group that studied the book of Hosea. That group was pretty special, also, although for some reason we couldn’t alwasy meet in the BS room.
–the fact that we called it the BS room.
–The really, super comfortable couches.
–Jenny and I studying the book of Lamentations on those comfortable couches.
–The pretty doors.
–I often had the feeling that we were the only little group of people that liked to hang out in that room. That was kind of nice–a campus of 2,000 students and we could almost always use that room…until Hosea. I think it started to get popular then!
–You know, I think I went to a fancy, schmancy reception in that room one time. I don’t remember why…What was up with that? That was our hang out room–not some reception hall! 😉
Yes, I know it’s weird that I’m sharing this. But I was feeling a little nostalgic for UE and just thought I’d share.
So, anyway, I’m starting to get tired now. Good night!
