The Things On My Mind

October 18, 2009

It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon here. Jason and I spent an hour on the back deck reading. He kept reading out loud from “Walden” and laughing hysterically. (He’s really loving Thoreau, y’all. Who knew?) I hear that the weather is going to be much better this week–more sun, less rain, and a little bit warmer! This is super news because I was tired of not needing my sunglasses.

Peanut butter m&ms are my favorite candy. I was at the store today and realized that they have debased them with strawberry flavoring. This is a dumb idea.

I’m reading a book I picked up at the library called “Gen Buy: How Tweens, Teens And Twenty-Somethings Are Revolutionizing Retail” by Kit Yarrow and Jayne O’Donnell. The first sentence is: “Generation Y, those born between 1978 and 2000, has overtaken BLAH BLAH BLAH…” Did you read that, friends? I and many of you are Generation Y–some of us just barely made the cut, but still! I always thought we were Gen X?

I spent the night in Murray on Friday with the W. KY Presbytery Youth Council. It was very fun and very exhausting. I went to bed before 10 last night and slept a full 8 hours, uninterrupted. This excessive amount of sleep plus the beautiful weather has put me in a goofy mood today. I also spent 45 minutes with the middle school Sunday School class this morning. They were all a little wound up and that made it a lot of fun.

Hope you enjoy(ed) Sunday!

  1. Gen Buy sounds like a very interesting book. I would like to read it too. I would recommend you reading "Meatball Sunday" (http://bit.ly/riHVX) as well. It talks about the current and future generation and marketing techniques. Good interesting reading for those of us who are interested in reaching others with a product or with the love of Jesus.
