Things are moving right along here! We’re nearly ready for VBS next week and that’s exciting. In an interesting turn of events, I will be teaching at VBS this year, for the first time ever, I think. Ever since I directed my first VBS during my freshman year of college, I’ve never taught at one. Since our lead pre-school teacher took a full time job and can no longer teach, and we couldn’t find someone else who could step in at the last minute, I volunteered to lead the pre-school section.
I’m nervous and excited about this! Nervous because I don’t usually teach pre-school even when I do teach at school and excited because I love pre-schoolers! We’re going to have so much fun! We’re learning about Joshua and the spies, and Jericho and about Jesus’ resurrection.
I have a lot to do to get ready, not just for pre-school, but for the rest of the program, too. The church looks really great–all decorated like a ranch. On the director’s team, we have some creativity when it comes to decorations and about 2 % of that comes from me! Seriously, Leigh Ann and Anita shine when it comes time to decorate the church each year. They are so creative!
Right now I’m waiting for Jason to get home. He’s been working so hard lately. Last night he got home around 9:30 p.m. (granted, he didn’t actually get to start working until about 4:00 yesterday because he and Jonas hung out all day). He’s still working right now, but eventually he should be home. He took the morning off to go see a movie with the youth group. I know he really enjoys the flexibility of his schedule.
OH–we went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie today. It was pretty good–but I think I liked watching the second one better.
It’s Memorial Day weekend! Jason likes to make fun of all the Memorial Day sales–he doesn’t see the connection between the two events. To quote: “Hey, everyone, let’s remember all the brave men and women who died for our freedom–and buy a dishwasher for 25% off!”
So, enjoy your long weekend!
