I Feel The Earth Move

April 18, 2008

At 4:37 this morning, I was instantly awakened with one thought, “Who is shaking our bed???” Jason woke up and said, “Are you doing that?”

Me: Of course I’m not doing that.

Him: Earthquake?

Me: Guess so.

(shaking continues while we both get out of bed)

Him: Now, don’t panic.

Me: What are you talking about? I’m fine.

(he goes to check on Jonas. I stand in the doorframe…because that’s what you’re supposed do. After about 30 seconds, the shaking stops).

Me: The news! I’m going to turn on the news.

Jason: They won’t have anything on about….

Meteorologist: …we had an earthquake…

Me: Ha!

Anyway, my dad called this morning b/c they felt it up there and he did a little research and discovered it originated near us. It was like a 5.2 or something.

I was mostly excited for my mom because she works in a geology office and this must be big stuff over there. It’s not my first Henderson earthquake. We had one during the day in 2004.

  1. I was excited when they mentioned “Evansville, IN”. I was like, “Hey, that’s where I lived!” Only, of course, I was alone and no one would have cared anyway, but it was still fun to hear of Evansville on the news. 🙂

  2. I felt it in Fort Wayne. I think it is so awesome. I love that I got to experience it for the first time. Too Cool! I blogged about it too.

Does anyone remember the “tremor” in Evansville back in, say, 2000?

I was in the middle of an exam in Dr. Ware’s class in the basement and I was leaning against the wall at the time, so I felt it move beneath me.

    It was crazy!
