It’s Disturbing That I Loved…

“The Silence of the Lambs!”

Seriously, when I was in high school, I probably watched this movie 100 times–from the sweaty jogging scene at the beginning to the creepy phone call Clarice receives at the end. I loved this movie and I really can’t tell you why. I don’t watch scary movies because they are…scary.

Anyway, I really like the Monsters of Folk song “Magic Marker.” For some reason every time I hear it, I think of “Silence of the Lambs.” I couldn’t quite put my finger on why…until yesterday when I really thought about it.

“It’s got a magic marker stain on its face and it needs a shower.” Monsters of Folk in “Magic Marker”

“It rubs lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again.” Buffalo Bill in “Silence Of The Lambs”

AHA. That may not seem similar enough to you, but I connected the dots in my head.

But seriously, that movie is disturbing. I have no idea what teenage Becky liked about it so much that she watched it over and over and over again…

  1. I used to love that movie, too. My best friend and I would watch way too often. Strange. However, stranger still is the fact that you made that connection in your brain. I was a little scared by that. 🙂
