Nativity Story, et al

December 4, 2006

Our youth group (plus Jason and Jonas) went to see “The Nativity Story” last night at Stadium 16. I don’t know if any of you have seen it, but I really liked it. It was actually rather faithful to the Matthew and Luke passages it portrayed and the characters and sets were captivating. No big special effects, really. Just a simple story about ordinary people who get caught up in God’s story. The actress who plays Mary and the actor who played Joseph were perfect for their roles. It even had me crying a few times.

One of my youth had me laughing (after he was at home because I wouldn’t have laughed at him) though when he told me that some friends who were going to see it later that week had asked him not to spoil the ending for them.

Anyway, today at After School Club the kids colored paper ornaments (of the Nativity) to put on the children’s tree in the gym. One little girl told me that two of her wisemen were going to wear green–but not the third one because he was a Cleveland Browns fan. She colored him orange and brown. Her father was quite proud and promised her extra reading time for that one. LOL.

Tonight I’m going to a Girl Scout leader’s Christmas party. We’re supposed to bring a home made gift. I was going to make a cookie mix in a jar. But then I got the instructions that the gift was not to be food (allergies? I guess.). So now I’m not bringing anything because Jesus did not make me good at handi-crafts (unless they are perler beads or construction paper). I know, I know–you heard that I rock at Latch Hook. It’s true. But who can latch-hook a whole thing in just a couple of days?

Have a happy day!

  1. Well I did want to go see that movie this weekend but I “got” to see “Flushed Away” instead. (It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t recommend it either.) I hope to go to that soon. And, at this moment I can’t remember what other comment I was going to make…..

Haha! Spoil the ending…that reminds me of someone who said after the Passion movie that he would rather see the sequel…Amen!

I am looking forward to seeing Charlotte’s Web!

  3. Oh, me too! I love Charlotte’s Web 🙂
