Photo A Day for Lent: Ate

I looked at my list yesterday and saw that the word for today’s photo was ‘ate.’

So I wracked my brain. What Scriptures contain the word ‘ate?’

Adam and Eve ate the fruit in the garden…

The Israelites ate manna in the dessert…

Jeremiah ate the Word of the Lord and it was as sweet as honey…

And then I just waited for the United Methodist Church team to post their picture this morning. It turns out, it was really helpful!

Short and sweet, here is the text (click the link to see the picture):

On the day after the passover, on that very day, they ate the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain. The manna ceased on the day they ate the produce of the land, and the Israelites no longer had manna; they ate the crops of the land of Canaan that year. – Joshua 5:11-12

What are those things that nourish your body and spirit? How do you ensure that you are able to “consume” these things on a regular basis

Life in my church family nourishes me. Our church family is not perfect, but together we worship, we laugh, we grieve, we sing, we sigh and we pray. This morning, this candle was on the piano, burning with a small flame. On Wednesday, our newest church family member was born and the flame was lit to symbolize his new life. When I think about how he and his brother and sister, and his brothers and sisters in Christ will be loved, nurtured and nourished as they experience and encounter life in Jesus, I’m filled with joy.
