Well, I’ve recovered from VBS 🙂 What a great week! We had 85-90 children participate in the Fiesta and I think we all learned a lot, did a lot, and had a really great time. We also collected canned goods for the food pantry, change for Project Imagination, and made blankets for children in Latin America. We learned about Jesus as our Friend, Life, Leader, and Savior! We had an awesome week thanks to a lot of hard workers from all three churches, but I especially grateful to the Presbyterian Crew who put in a lot of hard work last week.
We had a meeting on Sunday about our Gulfport, MS mission trip. We met the people from the other churches who are also going. There are 33 people going from the Presbytery of W. Ky (9 adults, 24 youth). We are staying at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Gulfport. There will be 145 people staying there that week (I’ll add that there are exactly 7 showers and one washing machine). We’ll be doing everything from demolition to minor repairs to construction to walking dogs for the Humane Society which is overrun with animals. One thing is for sure–we’ll be working hard. We leave on June 24, so please keep the group from our church in your prayers (Harrison, Jeremy, Mary, John, Robert, Walt, Evonda, and me).
I went today and bought my steel-toed work boots, safety glasses, and gloves, as well as woolite, febreeze, and a water bottle! I still have some other things to pick up before we leave, and I still have to get my TETANUS SHOT on Thursday, which I’m not looking forward too.
Before I can get to Gulfport, I have to make it through City Sights, City Lights with the Middle School students next week! This is our 48 hour middle school mission experience and it happens between Tuesday and Thursday of next week. We’ll be working with the Salvation Army and a clothing and food bank while we are there. Keep Aimee, Link, Will, Lucas, David, Sarah, and the other David in your prayers!
Also, Jonas’ team is playing in the PCMA baseball tournament! They won their game tonight and play again Thursday. The final game is Sunday, so it will all be done before I leave.
Hope you all are well out there in Blog Land!
